Fargo – Inter One - 61%
PSG - 65%
Inter One Freestyle – 67% (Pat said she felt like a bowling pin standing at A watching this kur…no one told her about Angie’s extended canter, turn at A in the middle of this freestyle!)
Walker was First Level Champion. What a great 4 yr old!!! if I do say so myself!!!! Walker is out of my Grand Prix mare, Feja by the Hannoverian stallion Warkanson.
Way to go Ang!!!! We’re proud of you and the boys.

Paul Belasik Clinic Thanks to Joey Mann for keeping a spot open for Grace and I in the Belasik clinic. We had a great time. Loaded Grace in the trailer and headed for Calgary after my Friday lessons. I started my 3 day clinic with Paul with a Friday evening lesson. It's not often it's just me and my horse at a clinic. I must say I did enjoy the down time for the weekend. Grace, good work, excellent company, great food. Paul helped me organize Grace's flying changes better. He also, as he has such an expertise, helped me feel where the collection should be with Grace's specific confirmation. Grace's last clinic was a bit of a stress for her. She didn't handle being in the trailer alone very well. This clinic was great. She didn't stress at all, alone in the trailer, new stall overnight, different exercises in the arena; she did great! Yeah Grace. Thanks Paul for all the help.
Young Riders Dressage Show We headed out of Flying Colours with 4 trailers and the motorhome. We met Angie at the grounds with her 3 charges. 11 horses all together. Reiden and Brenda were the fastest grooms in the west!
Grace won her first 4th level test, first and second at 3rd level, and fourth place at 3rd level where she tried to kick the fence down, after a fine little squeal and a buck with a flying change, in the extended canter down the long side! Happy horse…too happy horse!!!! Angie and Fargo did great, PSG and Inter One. The dusty warmup ring caused some problems for Fargo and he coughed his way through the trot tour of the Inter One. Carol and Monty got the first show of the season out of the way in grand style. A couple of very interesting entrances down centre line PSG and Fourth Level, and an extended canter in her freestyle that did Reiden proud!!! If only she could convince Carol to ride Grand Entry at the next Rodeo! I think the flags would do Monty in though! Pauline and Luke did a great job at Training Level. Mom, Ann was a great groom and set herself up to riding a couple of tests for the next show. The rest of the group had a good experience in the warm up ring and will be coming down centre line soon.
Amberlea Meadows Dressage Show As we were headed to the Thunderbird Show in Langley BC the next week, we only took three horses to Amberlea. Carol and Monty had the best go ever. Monty was settled and concentrated and Carol rode the best!!! Such a joy to watch the progression and understanding develop. Way to go Carol. Barb and Billie had their first show together. Billie is a seasoned old campaigner and this was Barb's first show since she was twelve years old!!! Barb came armed with the knowledge she had put in a good winter's work under the watchful eye of her coach/daughter Lindsey. As an experienced competitor and excellent coach, Lindsey was able to orchestrate a successful trip down centre line for her mom. They will be hot in the running for the Mother/Daughter cooler again this year. Through a little technical glitch, Pauline and Luke did the Amberlea show at First Level. She rode super and Luke tried his little heart out. Mom, Ann traded her grooming clothes for white breeches and had a wonderful trip into the Dress Rehearsal ring on Saturday. Another pair getting ready to snatch the year end cooler. FCS has purchased a 4 horse head-to-head and it had its test run to Amberlea. What a great trailer, hauls great and the horses love it!
Thunderbird Dressage Show The trailer packed, horses ready, we set out for the 14 hour trip to Langley. Some glitches came up…we broke the hitch on Monday; luckily we could jack it up off Angie's truck deck and hitch up successfully, Grace pulled a shoe bucking around in her paddock Monday, got it reset that evening, and Angie had a Four H session she had to coach that evening. Angie and Reiden got into the truck at 3am and headed out. Tuesday, I worked a couple of horses in the am and then flew to Vancouver with the thought of bedding the stalls before the girls arrived. It seemed I would have LOTS of time as Angie's truck blew a fuel pump in Merrit, BC. Being the ever resourceful girls that they are, they parked in the Canadian Tire parking lot and waited for the delivery of a new fuel pump scheduled for the next day. The trailer nicely makes into 3 box stalls, so Grace, Fargo, and Walker were quite comfy for the night. I had arrived in Vancouver with no luggage, as it was in the horse trailer, so I did a little shopping and headed to the "Rockstar Bus" at the show grounds. Jeff Mitran had again kindly set up one of his wonderful coaches for us to stay in while we are showing. It's great to stay on the grounds so as to night check the horses and feed early in the am each day. With the new fuel pump installed, Angie and Reiden arrived Wednesday afternoon. We put a stretchy ride on all of them then tucked them in for the night. All three were a bit wobbly after so many hours in the trailer, but all were happy and eating well. We all had a great show. The Advanced Level class Angie and Fargo were in was very competitive to say the least. Fargo looked wonderful and scored 60.0% in the Inter One. Walker was so good. He and Angie are competing at First Level this year. A great test of concentration for a 4 year old. Saturday he was a third place with a 65.7%! Such a nice young horse with lots of potential. Way to go Ang! Thanks for doing such a wonderful job with my youngster. Grace and I were Third Level Champions of the show!!! Woohoo!!!! Soooo much fun in one weekend. 65.7% and 65.4% I'm so proud of her. She really tried hard each stride of her tests. Sunday as Reiden went to tack her up, she found a big swelling on her tummy. Grace and her allergies. I think she reacted to something in the bedding. So no Freestyle for Grace as I couldn't see the positives of stressing her when her system is not quite right. It was raining and she doesn't like puddles and then we were hauling out right after the show. So home we came, lovely ribbons in hand, to get ready for the next show in Calgary July 1, 2, 3. Thanks to Reiden and Angie for their expertise and all their help.
Test Rehearsal and Barbeque
Flying Colours is having the 2nd Annual Test Rehearsal Day and Barbeque. The dressage ring is set up in the new outdoor ring and the adjoining warmup ring is in great condition. Rain out plan is to show in the indoor ring. Bring your horse, a test, a salad or a dessert and the barbeque will be fired up.
