Foxvillage Software Clinic, Red Deer, January 29, 2005

We had 34 people registered from all over the province. Because of tricky roads, 25 battled the fog and made their way to the Holiday Inn for a 9am start.

Pete Jorgensen (Seattle), Dressage husband extraordinaire, designer of this software led us through the bones of his software. Just about everyone brought a laptop and Pete brought 4 with him so we all had access to a computer. Pete set up a wireless network with all our laptops so we could follow along.

I think the next learning step for ease of show setups, would be to have access to someone who is able to easily set up wireless networks. Pete would be glad to help walk someone through all this and feels he is just "a phone call away" to anyone who would like to tackle this. Most weekends Pete can be found scoring at some dressage show somewhere in the US but he has his cell ever waiting.

After the clinic, all registrants were sent an updated contact list. Hopefully this will help out if we are short bodies in the show office in the future.

I thought it was a great day and feel I need to sit down and play with the software a bit, make mistakes and figure them out. I think once you have played with it for a while, it will be quite intuitive.

This clinic could probably be an annual event, introduce new people to the software and expand the depth of those experienced on running it. Pete has short cuts and slick little tricks that once you understand where you are and where you want to go, make sense.

As we had new people and experienced people for this first clinic, Pete could not go into as much depth as he would have like to. He is quite assessable at his office for any questions. Now that we have met him, picking up the phone will be easier, I’m sure!

It was a great day and I’ll need some time to digest all the info!!!
