February was a very busy month.
February 8 to 11
I spent in Ottawa at the Equine Canada Coaching Committee annual meeting. Met some great women. They are committed to advancing excellence in coaching equestrians in Canada and the future development the coaching program. Trish Mrakawa, Alberta's Master Course Conductor, is the new chairperson of the National Coaching Committee. Trish will do a great job in this position. She is a very positive and forward thinking woman.
High quality coaching is a fundamental basic need for the advancement of our sport. The "trickle down" philosophy of training dressage. Good coaching will produce good athletes, equine and human.
February 18/19
Tom Dvorak was back at Flying Colours. We had another great clinic thanks to Tom. It is amazing to be able to access the quality of his coaching at very regular intervals during the year. At many levels…my riding, my training, my coaching; the learning curve is great. Tom's clinics help me with the everyday coaching/training issues with my horse and my student's horses. It's a steady progress forward for us all. Tom will be back around Easter and in July again, hopefully.
February 26/27
Karen Robinson from Applause Dressage, www.applausedressage.com, was back again at FCS for 2005. The only FCS horse in the clinic was Grace. Her Kur needed be to tweeked as she will be moving from Third to Fourth Level this year. The rest of the registrants for the clinic hauled in from other facilities from the Edmonton and Red Deer area. Karen had some great music and choreographed some very interesting, moving freestyles. It will be great to have them all ready for show season. Kurs are such crowd pleasers!!! Everyone should have one for their horse!
Watch for some amazing Pas de Deux for the 2005 show season!!! Don't want to kill the surprise…..but Trahkners in capes and Mares in diamonds??!!!!
It's been a busy great month and the best news is our eldest daughter Kirsten is engaged to be married, this time next year, to a wonderful boy, Andrew Montgomery. Her father and I are very pleased! The wedding will take place on a cruise in February 2006.
