CAADA Dressage show, Anderson Ranch, Calgary
We took Magnum (Leslie Comis) at First Level, North of Sixty aka Streudel (Carol Robinson) First Level, and Millennium aka Monty (Carol Robinson) Fourth Level. A very low key show for all of us. Only 3 horses showing and a maximum of 3 tests for the show for each horse.
I headed down on Wednesday so Tina, our equine therapist, could work on Grace. Grace is still in recovery mode from the kick she gave herself in the shin at the beginning of the month. She coming along wonderfully and I’m looking forward to some good work with her in September. It was raining steadily on Wednesday and the rings looked like swimming pools but by Thursday afternoon they had dried out. Leslie, Reiden, Carol; her two little girls, Claire and Katie; and Carol’s Mom Ruth, arrived Thursday afternoon. We had 3 great rides in the indoor and outdoor rings and tucked everyone in and headed to Calgary for supper.
As Friday was Freestyle night I had the afternoon to visit Ute and Beke Brinkmann at the Jumper Show at Wildwood just down the road. Great to see all the jumpers having as much fun as we do in the mud! Back to Anderson’s for Monty’s evening freestyle and he did great. He has super music! Carol and Monty 62%, 4th Level Kur.
Saturday was busier for us all, 6 tests, all over 60% most in the high 60s. Monty was done competing so Reiden took he and Grace home. They could relax and graze in their paddocks all day Sunday. The rest of us headed to bed looking forward to Sunday’s competition with Magnum and Streudel.
The Championships were calculated by the addition of the scores from test 3 and 4. Magnum was in 3rd and Streudel was in 4th. Sunday was First Level test 4 for both of them. Leslie rode first and scored a 74% and Streudel soon after for a 68.8%!!!! Leslie was First Level Champion, Joely Mann, from Calgary was Reserve Champion and Carol with Streudel was 3rd!!! Leslie and Magnum were High Point Champions for the show. What a great way to end a lovely weekend.
Thanks to CAADA and all the volunteers. The show was super.
We’re all looking forward to Provincials in a month.
Amberlea Show, August 6-8, 2004
Ok! My thoughts on the Amberlea Show show. We had 'sooooooo' much fun.
We headed to Edmonton on Wednesday with 5 horses and another 4 arrived on Thursday. It would be the first show for 5 of the horses. Sadly accidents had taken their toll and Paddy (GP) and Grace (Third Level) had to stay home.
We rode, as a group, about 13 tests a day. With one warm-up ring and 3 show rings, I needed Lindsey to help out with the coaching details. She did a super job!
Here are the results for our horses:
Fargo and Angie Golley
Wind Walker and Angie Golley
Annie and Marilyn Parslow
Zepher and Katie Mitran
Zepher and Annie are our newest additions to the stable. Both Marilyn and Katie have worked hard this summer and the results show!
Magnum and Leslie Comis
Volterra and Leslie Comis
Volterra is out of Beluga (Beach Boy) by Vaultaire (Voltare X Calypso2). Both Walker and Volterra are by stallions from Equitop Farms (Brinkmann’s)
Streudel and Carol Robinson
Monty and Carol Robinson
Monty only did one 4th level test. As his freestyle or PSG mark didn’t count for championship totals, he just missed out!
Watson and Pat Sullivan
Watson did his first trip to a show this week and he and Pat did great. They didn’t show this time but added this road trip as a dress rehearsal for the future!
Marilyn and Katie are sporting "7" Rider Pins on their lapels. Leslie and Carol have joined Angie and Lindsey with “8” Rider Pins! To get an “8” for Rider Position requires much hard work and many hours of good riding. Congratulations to all.
The weekend was super! Great marks, lots of fun, and the company wonderful people. Thanks to you all!!!!!!
