Happy Easter!!!

Just wanted to send you an update from yesterday's clinic. The clinic appeared to be successful and money well spent for the EA/ADA. We had about 45 riders and auditors in attendance. There was 13 open, AA and JR rides from Training to GP, including a 4 year old materiale and a 5 year old test. FCS provide a "yummy" lunch of lasagna, salad, buns and carrot cake for all the riders and auditors.

Joan did an excellent job judging out loud and explaining what she was expecting at each level. She was fair in her judging in a difficult situation and wasn't afraid to give a '3' or an '8' when deserved. Joan worked through parts of the test following each ride to show how the rider could improve their scores in the future. She was open to answer any questions from the audience. Following each group of riders, Joan went around to personally thank the riders and provided them with a few quick tips. Joan appeared to enjoy the opportunity and was very excited about the future of dressage in Alberta. It was a great educational opportunity for those in attendance and definitely fit the goals of EA/ADA.

As a rider, I felt that everyone, including the judge and auditors, were very supportive and appreciative that the riders would put themselves on the line to be judged in front of the large group. Most of the riders commented that our first show in Red Deer will be a "breeze" compared to this clinic.
